HomeMy WebLinkAbout83 0712 minCITY COUNCIL MEETING July 12, 1983 COUNCIL CHAMBERS 7:30 p.m. 00 041 MINUTES The City Council of the City of Plainview met in a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 1983 in the Council Chambers with Mayor Ridlehuber presiding and the following Councilman present: Carl Tillerson, Andy Taylor, Lloyd Woods, Bobby James and Tom Aday. Visitors present: Joe Cox, Harold Gladman, Phil Hamilton' Medlin Carpenter, Tom Almon, Orville Atkinson, and Mr. & Mrs. John Dayton. Invocation was given by Carl Tillerson. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Tillerson to approve the Minutes of Council Meetings; June 28th and July 7th, Resolution No. R83-614 authorizing the payment of Construction Estimate No. 3 to White & Prutzman in the amount of $33,984 from Revenue Sharing Funds; P~solution No. R83-615 authorizing payment to the Energas Co. for the cost of installing a gas line and meter to the Animal Shelter facilities; Resolution No. R83-616 appropriating funds from G.O. Bond Funds as payment of items in E.& E. Givens Park.; Departmental R~ports and Minutes; and the budget expenditures for the month. The motion was made and seconded to approve the above items, motion carried unanimously. Mayor opened for discussion the options and recc~m~_ndations on the location of "personal care facilities within the City of Plainview. Tom Hamilton explained the options of the personal care facilities. A lengthly discussion was held, however not action was taken. Mayor presented Zoning Ordinance No. 83-2521 on first reading and calling a Public Hearing for Tuesday, July 26th, a request of Elmer Stinson for rezoning from an R-2 (Single-Family Residential) to a CRS (Commercial P~tail Service) located at 1401 Lexington. Bob Richards explained the zone change. It was moved by Alderman Woods seconded by Alderman Taylor to approve the ordio~nce. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor presented Resolution No. R83-617 authorizing the City of Plainview to participate along with the Texas Municipal League and other cities to oppose Senate Bill 66 which would remove all regulatory authority of CATV from municipalities and authorize the City to make a payment of $222.00 as the City's contribution to the efforts to defeat the bill. John H~tchel explained the resolution, it was then moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Taylor to approve the resolution. Motion carried unanin~usly.
