HomeMy WebLinkAbout83 0809 minCITY COUNCIL MEETING August 9, 1983 COUNCIL CHAMBERS 7:30 p.m. The City Council of the City of Plainviewmet ina regular meeting at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, AUgust 9, 1983 in the Council Chambers with Mayor Ridlehuber presiding and the following Councilman present: Carl Tillerson, Andy Taylor, Lloyd Woods, Bobby James and Tom Aday. Staff present: John Hatchel, Tom Hamilton, Mike McDonough, Bill Hogge, Johnnie Ballew, HughAnderson, and Sheryl Owen. Invocation was given byMayor Ridlehuber. Mayor presented t he minutes of the City CouncilMaeting, July 26, 1983, and the City Council Work Session, August 4, 1983. It wasmoved by Alderman Aday seconded byAlderman Tillerson to approve the minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor presented Resolution No. R83-623 appropriating $201.36 frc~ the G.O. Park Bond Fund Account No. 3-0-60812 as payment for items in E.&E. Givens Park. Mike McDonough explained. It was then moved by Alderman A~lay seconded by Alderman Tillerson to approve the resolution. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor presented letter from Mr. Roland McCutcheon on the probl~ns in the E.& E. Givens Park area. Mr. M~Cutcheon spoke to the Council and explained the problems and requested participation from the City to help eliminate the problems. A lengthly discussion was held and conm~nts were made from the citizens. Alderman Woods requested the City Manager to propose an ordinance prohibiting the sell of Alcoholic Beverages on public property in the City of Plainview. The discussion was closed. Mayor presented Resolution No~ R83-625 entering into an agreement with Barber, Brannon, Traylor, Inc. for the development and c~c~pletion of a Con, unity Development Block GrantApplication. John Hatchel explained. It was then movedbyAldermanWoods seconded byAlderman Aday to approve the resolution. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor presented Resolution No. R83-626 considering for approval the preliminary plat of Setliff Addition, Plainview, Texas. Bill Hogge explainedthe preliminary plat. It was then movedbyAlderman~lay seconded byAldermanTillersonto approve the resolution. Motion carried unanimously. Mayor presented Zoning Ordinance No. 83-2523 on first reading, on behalf of E.H. Ginsburg for rezoning Lots 1-2-3-4, Block 1, White's Subdivision of Blocks 31 and 42, College Hill Addition from a CRD (Con~nerc~l B~tail District) Zoning District to a CGB (Commercial General Business) Zoning District and located at 1911 W. 5th; Calling for a Pub!ic Hearing, Tuesday, August 23rd. Mike McDonough explained. It was moved by Alderman ~lay seconded by Alderman Taylor to approve the ordi~nnce on first reading. Motion carried unanimously. 00 046 O0 047 Mayor presented the departmental reports and minutes. No action was taken. Mayor presented the budget expenditures for approval.
