MINUTES
The City Council of the City of Plainview met in a regular meeting
Tuesday, June 26, 1984 at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall
with Mayor Ridlehuber presiding and the following present: Barbara
Dorman, Andy Taylor, Junior Brown, Bobby James and Tom ~lay. Also
present; John ~tchel, Bob Richards, Tom Hamilton, Bill Hogge, Buddy
Dodson, Mike McDonough, Johnnie Ballew, Hugh Anderson, and Sheryl Owen.
Invocation was given by Bill Hogge.
Mayor presented the following for approval: Minutes of City
Council Meetings, Depar~-~ntal Reports and Minutes and Budget
Expenditures. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Br~wn
to approve the above. Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor presented Ordinance No. 84-2554 and conducted a public
hearing for rezoning Lots 8 & 9, Block 3, Gardenville Subdivision, from
an R-1 (Single Family Residential) to a CGB (~rcial General
Business) Zoning District, request of Bob McAninch. Zone Case 9494.
Bob Richards explained. Public Hearing was opened. No c~-~nts were
made. Public Hearing was closed. It was then moved by Alderman ~lay
seconded by Alderman Taylor to approve the ordinance. Motion carried
unanimously.
Mayor presented Resolution No. R84-724 a request of the Downtown
Merchants Association for permission to conduct a sidewalk sale in the
Central Business District on July 19, 20 & 21st. John Hatchel
explained. It was then moved by Alderman Taylor and seconded by
Alderwoman Dorman. Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor presented Ordinance No. 84-2555 on first reading, an
ordinance of the City of Plainview, entitled "Fire Protection and
Prevention, addition thereto a new section. John Hatchel explained.
was then moved by Alderman A~ay seconded by Alderman James to approve
the ordinance. Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor presented 84-2556 on first reading, amending the Cable
Television franchise and moving the requirements for Plainview Cable
Television service to install electronic equipment capable of providing
thirty-five channels. John Hatchel explained. It was then moved by
Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman Dorman. Motion carried unanimously.

Mayor presented ~solution No. R84-722 approving a preliminary plat
of Mesa Verde Addition, Unit No. 1, Plainview, Hale County, Texas. Bill
Hogge explained. It was moved by Alderman Aday seconded by Alderman

Four & Five. Place Two ~stained.
Mayor presented Ordinance No. 84-2557 on first reading and calling
a public hearing, on street and alley closures, Tuesday, July 10th in
conjunction with the Mesa Verde ~dition. It was moved by Alderman Aday
seconded by Alde~ Dorman to table the ite~. Motion carried for
Place One, Three, Four and Five. Place Two abstained.
Mayor presented Resolution No. R84-723 considering the preliminary
plat for Interwest Sub-division, Plainview, Hale County, Texas. Bill
Hogge explained. It was then moved by Alderman Taylor seconded by
Alderwc~an Dorman to approve the resolution. Motion carried For; Place
One, Two, Three, & Five. Place Four abstained.
Mayor presented Resolution No. R84-727 authorizing the Mayor to
sign on behalf of the City of Plainview a contract with Peat Marwick
Mitchell & Co. for executive search services for the City of Plainview.
Mayor explained. Two citizens spoke against. It was then moved by
Alderman Jam~s seconded by Alderman Aday to approve the resolution.
Motion carried for; Place One, Three, Four & Five. Against; Place Two.
Mayor presented Resolution No. R84-728 appointing Bill Hogge an
interim City Manager. Mayor explained. It was then moved by Alderman
~lay seconded by Alderwaman Dorman to approve the appointment. Motion
carried unanimously.
With no further business pending, it was mgved by Alderman Aday
seconded by Brown that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried
unanimously.
