The Plainview City Council met in a Work Session Thursday, July 5, 1984 at the Plainview Country Club with Mayor Ridlehuber presiding and the following present: Councilmembers; Barbara Dorman, Andy Taylor, Junior Brown, Bobby James, and Tom Aday. Also, John Hatchel, Bill Hogge. Visitor: Kippi Hopper of the Plainview Daily Herald. City Manager John Hatchel presented the Agenda for the next regular City Council Meeting to be held Tuesday, July 10th at 7:30 p.m. He discussed with the Council an ordinance needed in order to satisfy the requirements of the Block Grant Program. It provides assurances that when sewer lines are extended and/or installed, the residences will tie onto the system and be served. To accc~plish this, an ordinance is proposed which will require a residence or business to connect to the City's sanitary sewer system whenever the house or business is within 150 feet of the City's sanitary sewer main or line. At one time the City of Plainview did have such an ordinance, but when the City Code was codified in 1977, the ordinance was left out and consequently cancelled. The Mayor and Council spoke in favor of such an ordinance since it is of a health concern. This item is proposed for first reading on the 12th, and second and final reading on the 24th of July. A lengthly discussion was held on the other agenda items, with no official action being taken. With no further business pending, the meeting adjourned. PASSED AND APPBDVED this the 10th day of July, E.V. IiII]T,]~-I[Jq~ER, Mayor ATTEST 1984.
