11:30 A.M.
The Plainview City Council met in a regular work session on
Thursday, June 20, 1985 at 11:30 a.m. at the Plai~view Country Club.
Present were: City Councilmembers: Barbara Dorman, Andy Taylor, Junior
Brown, Bobby James and Tc~ A~ay. Staff present: City Manager Jim
Jeffers, Norman Huggins, Sheryl Owen and Bob Richards. Visitors
present: Richard Orr.
The City Council discussed the following items to be on the regular
portion of the agenda:
Zone Case No. 507, request of Marie Mangum, located at 311 Ash;
Zone Case No. 508, request of Bill Nichols, 2105 Dimmitt Road; and Mr.
Lloyd Woods to speak to Council on Single M~mber District issue.
The City Council discussed the following items as a part of the
Consent Calendar:
Oridnance No. 85-2594 as it pertains to prohibiting the depositing
of refuse in containers wi%hour paying a user fee; Resolution awarding
bids for sanitary sewer improvements; Resolution on prelimins_ry plat of
Ezzell ~dition; Resolution on preliminary plat of Junior High
Addition, Unit No.3; Resolution appointing m~mbers to the Plainview
Industrial Develo~x~=-nt Anthority, Inc.; Resolution awardind a bid for
radio equipment for the Fire Department EMS; Zone Case No. 510 and
Resolution on the loaning of the Baylor Law School Diploma.
Board and Committee Attendance. The City Council discussed and
decided to have the Mayor to send out letters to all Board and Cc~x~ittee
members on their atten~d~nce of M~etings to try and eliminate the problem
of poor attendance.
Consolidated Tax Collections. City Council briefly discussed tb~
consolidated tax collections and Council instructed City Manager Jim
Jeffers to vist with Christine Vinson, County Tax Collector on this
matter.
Hotel/~btel Tax. City Council briefly discussed the Hotel/Motel
Tax monies.
Water A~thority Project. City Council briefly discussed the Water
Authority Project and decided to take no further action on this matter
at this time.
NIC Co~m%~ttees. City Council briefly discussed the National League
of Cities Co~m~ttees and decided to participate in the Cc~ittees.
Single Member Districts. City Council discussed the Single Member
District issue and decided to set up a meeting with Attorney Bob Bass
and City Attorney Tom Hamilton for further discussion on this matter.
Baylor Diploma. City Council discussed the loaning of the Baylor
Diplc~a to the Bay~or Law School.
City Council agreed to change the next City Council Work Session of
July 4th to Wednesday, July 3rd at the Holiday Inn.
With no further business pending, the meeting adjourned.
