HomeMy WebLinkAboutR22-585265 RESOLUTION NO R22-585 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR, PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION THROUGH THE ALERRT TRAVEL ASSSITANCE FOR AGENCY — INCURRED TRAVEL COSTS FOR SENDING PEACE OFFICERS TO ADVANCED LAW ENFORCEMENT RAPID RESPONSE TRAINING (ALERRT); AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND/OR CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW IN ALL MATTERS RELATED TO THE APPLICATION; AND AGREEING TO COMPLY WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE GRANT AWARDED. WHEREAS, State Funds have been authorized by the Legislative Budget Board, pursuant to the Texas Government Code, Section 317.002 and Section 317.005(b), and WHEREAS, the announcement of eligible organizations to include units of local government that operate police departments, and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview's Police Department intends to send at least 9 Officers to ALERRT training outside the City of Plainview, Texas; and WHEREAS, the funding will cover agency incurred costs associated with the sending of Peace Officers to ALERRT training including: overtime, travel expenditures and training stipends; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview Police Department will be required to provide copies of ALERRT training certificates prior to receiving reimbursement; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview is compliant and eligible per the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office Criminal Justice Division requirements; and WHEREAS, the City of Plainview believes it to be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Plainview to authorize the Mayor and/or City Manager to apply for such funds from the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice Division through the ALERRT Travel Assistance Reimbursement Program to provide the training to Plainview Police Officers. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, HEREBY RESOLVES: 1. THAT the Mayor and City Manager are authorized to request funding from the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office Criminal Justice Division ALERRT Travel Assistance, FY2023 and act on behalf of the City Police Department in all matters related to the grant application and any subsequent grant contract and grant project that that may result. THAT the Mayor and/or City Manager of the City of Plainview are hereby authorized to administer and oversee all matters relating to such grant application and grant acceptance. 3. THAT in the event the City of Plainview is awarded such grant, the City of Plainview, to the best of its ability, agrees to comply with the terms and conditions of the grant.
