HomeMy WebLinkAboutR86-192159 REsoLUTION NO. R86-192 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS SUPPORTING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE TEXAS AERONAUTICS COMMISSION. WHEREAS, a majority of the Nation's States authorize their State Aviation Entities to receive or to authorize the expenditure of Federal Funds for Airport Development within their States; and WHEREAS, these States have indicated that their respective State Statute's: a. Make State Government directly responsible for Airport System Development in the State to insure that the Airport's are developed for the benefit of the State, while still being an integral part of the National Air Transportation System. b. Provide a Clearing House for all funds for Airport System Planning, development and improvements so as to eliminate duplications. c. Allow communities to accomplish more accurate and complete fiscal planning for expenditures by knowing how and when proposed Airport Development would be funded with combined local, state and/or federal funds. d. Allow the State more influence in the development of specific parts of the State wide system of Airports by using State Funds as a portion of the local share on large, Federally Funded ProjeCts. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas that the Texas Legislature is urged to: 1. Restore and increase State Airport improvements as soon as possible, preferably from some form of Aviation User Fee's. 2. Channel Federal Airport Funds through the Texas Aeronautics commission. Restore the Texas Aeronautics Commission's Financial Assistance Program for Airports as soon as possible and practicable to target financial resources to the areas of greatest needs thereby utilizing Federal and State Tax Payer Funds. 4. That a copy of this Resolution be presented to the appropriate State Elected officials as a token of the interest and concern expressed herein.
