R24-624 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, CALLING AND SETTING THE DATE FOR THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION; DESIGNATING THE ELECTION OF A MAYOR AT -LARGE AND COUNCIL MEMBER FOR DISTRICTS 5, 6, AND 7 RESPECTIVELY; DESIGNATING DISTRICTS AND POLLING PLACES; DESIGNATING EARLY VOTING DATES, HOURS, AND LOCATIONS; DESIGNATING THE DISTRICT POLLING PLACE JUDGES; SETTING THE HOURLY RATE FOR ELECTION OFFICIALS AND POSTING NOTICE OF ELECTION. WHEREAS, in accordance with the statutes of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Plainview, an election shall be held in and for the City of Plainview; and WHEREAS, the election shall be held on the first Saturday in May, 2024, the same being May 4, 2024; and WHEREAS, Section 85.001(e) provides that for an election held on the uniform election date in May and any resulting runoff election, the period for early voting by personal appearance begins on the 12th day before election day and continues through the fourth day before election day. WHEREAS, all persons qualified to vote in said election under the Election Laws of the State of Texas shall be allowed to vote therein. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1 An election shall be held in the City of Plainview, Texas on the 4th day of May, 2024. Said election is to elect a Mayor at -large and Council Members for Districts 5, 6 and 7. SECTION 2 All electors shall vote in the voting district in which said voter resides, and at the polling place provided for voting as designated in Section 3 of this Resolution. SECTION 3 The election shall be held in the designated district within the City, at the designated polling place within the district as designated below: Resolution R24-624 Election Page 1 of 3 436 CITY DISTRICT NO. 1 Voting Place: Ash Program 908 Ash Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 2 Voting Place: City Hall 202 W. 5th Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 3 Voting Place: Plainview Collegiate High School 1707 W. 11 th Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 4 Voting Place: Central Elementary School 800 Ennis Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 5 Voting Place: Garland Street Church of Christ 700 Garland Street Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 6 Voting Place: Senior Citizens Center 1107 Smyth Plainview, Texas CITY DISTRICT NO. 7 Voting Place: Plainview Intermediate 2501 Joliet Street Plainview, Texas SECTION 4 Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at 202 W. 5th Street, Plainview, Texas between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning on April 22, 2024 and ending on April 30, 2024. SECTION 5 Said election shall have as its Early Voting Ballot Board presiding election judge, Jackie Lopez. Notice of this election shall be given in accordance with the provisions of the Texas Election Code and returns of such notice shall be made as provided for in said Code.
