City of Plainview Police Department Announce
Promotion of Gabriel Carrillo
The City of Plainview Police Department Chief Derrick Watson recently
announced the promotion of Gabriel Carrillo to Captain.
He was recognized at a pinning ceremony held at Plainview City Hall on
th
Friday, July 19. Carrillo was pinned by his wife Criselda.
In his new position, Captain Carrillo will be responsible for managing the
accreditation program, recruiting, hiring, internal affairs, training,
emergency management, property and evidence, police records and
telecommunications. He will be assisted by two sworn officers, two administrative employees and six
telecommunicators.
A member of the department since 2012, Captain Carrillo has served as a patrol officer, field training
officer, patrol Corporal, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Patrol and Tactical team Lieutenant. He has
an additional eight years and four months of law enforcement experience with the Seagraves and
Brownfield Texas Police Departments, currently serving more than 20 years as a sworn Texas peace
officer.
Captain Carrillo has attained a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Master Peace Officer
Certification. He is also a certified law enforcement instructor, tactical team officer, active shooter
response trainer, TASER instructor, and defensive tactics instructor. He has attended the Law
Enforcement Management Institute Command Staff Leadership Series and is actively pursuing further
professional development.
