July 8, 2024 – The City of Plainview Animal Management will hold a
th
FREE microchip clinic on Saturday, July 13 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
at 622 Ash Street. The chips are available first come, first serve

What is a microchip?
A small electronic chip enclosed in a cylinder the size of a grain of
rice. It is activated by a scanner and transmits the identification
number to the scanner.
Is it painful to my pet?
It is no more painful than a typical injection. No surgery or
anesthesia is required. Most dogs don’t even notice when it happens.
What does the microchip do?
When an animal is taken to a shelter or vet, it is scanned. If it has a microchip, they are able to
immediately contact the owners via the information received from the microchip company.
Why should I get my pet microchipped?
The best reason to have your animals microchipped is the improved chance that you’ll get your animal
back if it becomes lost or stolen.
