The Plainview Walk of Fame Committee will host a Plaque
th
Unveiling Ceremony for Van Redin on Saturday, March 30 at
10:30 a.m. in front of the Fair Theater (717 Broadway). The public
is encouraged to attend.
Born and raised in Plainview, Redin graduated from Plainview
High School in 1971. After high school, he attended Stephen F.
Austin State University in Nacogdoches, majoring in
Photojournalism / Communication.
After graduation, Redin served as the House Photographer at the
Texas State Capitol, House Photographer at Glastron Boat
Company, and a Commercial Photographer at Reagan Bradshaw
Studios.
Redin is best known for his publicity stills - shooting 85 publicity stills for major feature films including
“Lord of the Rings”, “Rudy”, “Office Space”, “Major League 2”, “All the Pretty Horses”, “Secondhand
Lions”, “Anaconda”, “My All American” as well as TV series including “The Long Road Home”, “The
Son” and “Dallas”.
Van's work will soon be on exhibit and permanently archived at the prestigious Wittliff Collection at
Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
The son of Harley & Nonie Redin and stepson of Wilda Redin, he is a big supporter of Plainview,
especially the WBU Flying Queens and returns when possible. Van currently resides in Austin.
Members of the Plainview Walk of Fame Committee include Rodney Watson, Nicki Logan, Jack
Oswald and Lindsie Mathis.
