Contractors Begin Work on
AMI Project, Meter
Installation
Contractors for the City of Plainview have begun
installation of more than seven thousand
residential meters around town for the Automatic Water Meter project.
Installation will be completed during the week between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., and each
meter installation is expected to take about 30 minutes. During this time, the water will be
shut off. Before they begin, contractors will knock on the door to notify residents.
If a resident is not home, contractors will check to ensure there is no water running and
then begin the installation process. Meters are in accessible areas for contractors; they
will not need to enter a residence for any portion of this project.
Once completed, contractors will leave a door hanger on your door notifying the
residence that the meter was installed and the lines were flushed. The door hanger will
also indicate if they are unable to complete the installation or need the resident to flush
the lines with instructions.
Contractors will be identifiable with safety vests and vehicles with the company name
and logo - Pedal Valve or Ameresco.
The AMI Project (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Project Upgrade will allow residents
access to more frequent and detailed information about water usage, better control of
resident water usage and monthly bills.
