17,000 Free E-Books, Audiobooks
The City of Plainview’s Unger Memorial Library recently joined the E-
Read Texas program, an online program providing electronic books and
audiobooks free through the SimplyE app.
The app is easy to download, free and available through the Apple and
Android app stores.
The E-Read Texas collection has more than17,000 e-books and downloadable audiobooks, mostly
fiction and popular non-fiction for adults and young adult audiences. The collection offers a wide
variety of materials including titles from bestselling authors Stephen King, Nora Roberts, James
Patterson and others.
A library of Texas-related works published by Texas University Presses (Texas A&M University
Press, University of Texas Press), is also included in the collection with more than 1,900 titles
focusing on Texas history, geography, nature and many other topics.
Offered by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, the program was created in 2019 to
support digital content for libraries serving small to medium sized communities in Texas. Currently,
more than 180 public libraries from around the state participate in the program.
E-Read Texas joins Unger Library’s rich e-book collections including access to more than 18,500 e-
books and more than 4,500 audiobooks through OverDrive, and access to more than 398,000 e-
