Bridgwater Graduates FBI National Academy,
Fourth in City History
City of Plainview Police Captain William Bridgwater recently
graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico,
Virginia.

As a member of the 285 session, Bridgwater is the fourth
member in the City of Plainview Police Department’s history
to complete this prestigious program; the last participant graduated 41 years ago.
To graduate, Bridgwater completed three months of weekly physical fitness challenges,
four college graduate level courses (Emotional Intelligence, Emerging Technologies and
Strategic Influences on Public Safety, Strategic Planning Applied to Law Enforcement
Relations and Essentials for Law Enforcement Executives) and attended field trips to
museums in Washington D.C. and a visit to the New York Police Department.
The 285th session consistent of two hundred and forty-seven law enforcement officers
from 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law
enforcement agencies from 28 countries, four military organizations, and five federal
civilian organizations. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity
to attend the program.
City of Plainview Police Department FBI National Academy graduates include Carlos
Austin (1978), William Mull (1980) and James Rogers (1982). Police Chief Derrick
Watson also graduated from the Academy prior to coming to Plainview.
