Plainview - Hale County Health Department Encourages
Vaccinations as COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise
Similar to state and national case increases, the Plainview – Hale County Health
Department has recently seen a rise in COVID-19 cases. 306 cases were reported for the
th
month of July (as of July 24), 155 cases reported for May and 23 cases reported for
June.
As cases continue to rise, the Health Department encourages citizens to get their COVID-
19 vaccine, including booster shots. The CDC recommends COVID-19 primary series
vaccines for everyone ages 6 months and older, and COVID-19 boosters for everyone
ages 5 years and older, if eligible.
For individuals who test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms, the CDC recommends
individuals stay home for at least five (5) days and isolate from others, regardless of
vaccination status. For those who have recently been exposed, quarantine measures will
depend on vaccination status. Please visit www.cdc.gov/coronavirus for more
information.
Common symptoms for COVID-19 include fever or chills, cough, shortness of
breath/difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste
or smell, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea. If you are
experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, contact your physician.
Citizens are encouraged to consider other precautions including social distancing,
washing your hands for 20 seconds and wearing a mask if you have been exposed. If
soap and water are not easily accessible, hand sanitizer is encouraged.
For more information, contact the Plainview Hale County Health Department at 806-293-
1359.
