Plainview City Council calls Special Election for
Vacant Council Seat
The Plainview City Council passed an ordinance calling for a
Special Election for the District Seven seat at their Tuesday
night City Council meeting. The seat is currently vacant.

The special election will be held Saturday, January 222022, to fill the seat and early
thth
voting will be Wednesday, January 5 – Tuesday, January 18. Early 12-Hour voting

days are scheduled for Thursday, January 6 and Thursday, January 13.

The filing date for the position will begin on Wednesday, November 10 and will end on
ndth
Monday, November 22. Candidate packets are available at City Hall (202 W. 5
Street) from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday and can be returned to Belinda
Hinojosa, City Secretary, at the same location.

in District Seven are eligible to vote.
To be eligible to run for City Council, a person must be a United States citizen; be 18
years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election; have not
been determined by final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be total
mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote; have
not been finally convicted of a felony; shall have resided continuously in the state for 12
months and shall have resided within the district from which said councilmember is to
be elected for at least 6 months.
