City of Plainview’s Unger Memorial Library
Receives Accreditation from the Texas
State Library & Archives Commission
The City of Plainview’s Unger Memorial Library received 2022
State Fiscal Year Accreditation from the Texas State Library and
Archives Commission.
As an accredited Library, Unger Memorial Library is eligible to participate in the
statewide interlibrary loan system, E-rate – the federal telecommunications discount
program, TexShare Database Program, the TexShare Card Program, and any funding
opportunities offered through the Texas State Library.
To remain an accredited library, staff are required to complete a report detailing the
Library’s activities and collections including financial reports, electronic catalogs, print
and audio book collections, available databases and print subscriptions. They also
report statistics including the number of patrons who visited the Library, amount and
types of programs offered, staff and volunteer hours, patron computer and website
usage and operating hours.
“Accreditation is more than a congratulations from the Texas State Library and Archives
Commission,” says Jeff Johnston, Assistant City Manager. “It acknowledges the hard
work Cynthia and her staff have done and allows them to provide more great services to
our citizens.”
Unger Memorial Library is located at 825 N. Austin and is open Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00
