The lights at Broadway and 8 Street are currently blinking. Several years ago, the City commissioned an engineering study of the lights in the downtown area. The study concluded that stoplights were not needed and traffic flow would be improved with four-way stop signs. The City will be installing stop signs at the designated corners as a part of the Downtown Streetscape Plan. As a transition to the new stop signs, the Street Department will be converting the lights to blinking and adding temporary stops signs on the side (numbered) streets. The City encourages drivers to slow down in this area and be aware of these ongoing changes. For questions about downtown or the Downtown Streetscape Plan, contact Melinda Brown at 296.1119. ##
