7 Street & Broadway Street Lights to
begin Blinking Red this Week
The City of Plainview’s Street Department will change

the lights on 7 & Broadway to blinking red. They have
begun converting the stoplights on Broadway Street
ththth
and the corners of 6 Street, 7 Street and 8 Street
th
to four-way blinking lights. Broadway and 8 Street is
currently blinking red.
As a transition to the new stop signs, the Street Department will be converting the lights to
blinking and adding temporary stops signs on the side (numbered) streets. The City encourages
drivers to slow down in this area and be aware of these ongoing changes.
Several years ago, the City commissioned an engineering study of the lights in the downtown
area. The study concluded that stoplights were not needed and traffic flow would be improved
with four-way stop signs. The City will be installing stop signs at the designated corners as a part
of the Downtown Streetscape Plan.
