HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.02.2020 Western EDC Business Park Ribbon Cutting City of Plainview NEWS 901 Broadway St. Plainview, TX 79072 March 3, 2020 Western Equipment and Plainview / Hale County Business Park Ribbon Cutting th Slated for Tuesday, March 24 The Plainview / Hale County Business Park along with the newest tenant Western Equipment will host a th Ribbon Cutting/Grand Opening on Tuesday, March 24 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Hale County Business Park located at 3401 North I- 27. The event is sponsored by the Plainview Hale County EDC, Hale County, Plainview Chamber of Commerce and the City of Plainview as well as Western Equipment. The event will include food, tours and a short program at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Ribbon Cutting. The event is free and open to the public. “The Grand Opening is a big day for Plainview, Hale County and the surrounding area,” says Mike Fox, Plainview Hale County EDC Director. “We are honored to have Western Equipment partner with us for the celebration and invite everyone to join us.” The Business Park area is zoned for commercial and industrial use and approximately half of the 140-acre industrial park will be sub-divided into five and ten acre tracts; the remaining acreage will not be sub-divided under the current phase and will be reserved for future tenant needs. Located on the Ports-To-Plains Interstate 27 Trade Corridor which links to Interstate 40, the Business Park location is easily accessible to the East and West Coasts. Located 580 miles from the Port of Houston and 550 miles from the World Trade Port of Entry in Laredo, Texas, the Park is also situated on the BNSF Rail Line which runs adjacent to the southern boundary of the Park and is five miles from the regional airport and 45 miles from Preston Smith International Airport. The City of Plainview and Hale County contributed funds and in-kind labor to make the business park a reality as well as receiving a $1,000,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) through the U.S. Department of Commerce to support the construction of the Business Park and “EDA, the County, City, business leaders and others have worked tirelessly to make the Business Park a reality for Plainview.” says Mike Fox, Plainview Hale County EDC Director. “This will be a game changer for our community.” Western Equipment jumped on board to be tenant in the Business Park and constructed a new four million dollar state of the art facility in the new business park. “Quote from Western” The 40,000 square foot building will occupy 14 acres along the I-27 south access road and house the authorized John Deere Dealers showroom, service department, parts distribution department, outdoor equipment display area and will employ 45-50 people. The new Plainview Western Equipment dealership will incorporate the latest technologies and bring a new level of John Deere Product service and support to the Plainview community.
