City of Plainview’s Unger Memorial Library Offer
Curbside Service, Developed Guides to Assist
Parents and Educators
The City of Plainview’s Unger Memorial Library will be offering curb side
thth
service beginning Friday, March 20 through Monday, April 6. Unger
staff has also developed a guide for parents and educators who will be
working with children and teens during school closings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The guide is free to the public and can be found on the City’s website at
www.plainviewtx.org.
Curbside Service
To check out a book, library patrons need to call the Library at 296.1148 with the list of
books and their library card number and driver’s license or state id card number. Library
numbers are listed on the card.
Staff will research to see if the book is available; if your particular book is not available,
they will offer an alternative. Once your order is complete, Library staff will notify patrons
via phone and books may be picked up at the front of the Library (north side of building
by main door).
Curbside service is available during Library hours: Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. –
6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Resources for Teachers/Parents
Suggested by teachers, librarians, and parents around the country, these resources will
assist to provide meaningful education of our kids and keep them entertained. The
guide includes links to lesson plans, e-books, streaming video, and more. Topics
include music, visual arts, and theatre arts, reading and language arts, math, social
studies, science, and languages – with others added if necessary. There will also be
links to virtual tours of zoos, museums, and parks.
Unger also has a variety of databases available to assist parents and teachers such as
LearningExpress Library, Award Books as well as the TumbleBook family of databases
that includes TumbleBook Library, TumbleMath, TeenBookCloud, and AudioBookCloud.

Temporary Changes to Checkout Periods and Renewals
Due to changes in City facility policies, Unger Memorial Library has made some
temporary changes to checkout periods and renewals.
Changes Include:
Books – checkout will be for 3 weeks instead of two. Unlimited number of books
may be checked out. May renew by phone.
Audio-books – checkout will be for 3 weeks instead of two. Unlimited number of
audio-books may be checked out. May renew by phone.
DVDs – checkout will be for 2 weeks instead of one. The limits will be raised
from 3 to 10. May renew by phone.
Magazines – checkout will be for 2 weeks instead of one. Unlimited number may
be checked out. May renew by phone.
Unger staff would like to remind citizen may also access OverDrive e-books and
audiobooks. We will be allowing registration by phone during this time with a current
library card.
