City of Plainview’s Unger Memorial Library Now
Offering Mango Language Learning Resource
The City of Plainview’s Unger Memorial Library is now offering Mango - an
award-winning language learning resource for individuals and organizations
around the world.
The program offers more than 70 world languages. Participants will learn
to converse in those languages as well as cultural information such as
Arab etiquette, Business Chinese, English Loanwords for Japanese, Portuguese
hospitality and tourism, Italian, Portuguese, French or Spanish romance and even a
lesson in Pirate talk.
“Cynthia has done a great job bringing new resources to the Library, especially ones
that can also be accessed outside the Library,” says Jeff Johnston, Assistant City
Manager. “This is another great tool and the different features such as conversational
languages and cultural information make it more relevant when learning another
language.”
In addition to the world languages, there are also twenty-one English courses available
for non-English speakers of native languages such as Arabic, Greek, Italian, Spanish,
and Vietnamese.
Participants can access Mango Resources through the Library computers (when they
open back up) or by visiting www.plainviewtx.org/unger. To access outside of the
library, participants will need their library card number. Participants can obtain a library
card on the Library page of the City’s website if they currently do not have a card. Also,
first-time users will need to register; by registering, the participant’s progress will be
saved.
