City of Plainview’s Fire Department to Assist in Testing
Plainview Licensed Nursing Facilities
The City of Plainview’s Fire Department will be assisting Plainview nursing facility staff
in administering COVID-19 tests to all staff and residents at licensed Plainview nursing
facilities.

The testing will be done on Tuesday, May 26 and Wednesday, May 27 at Prairie
House Living Center and Plainview Healthcare Center. Texas Governor Abbott has
requested assistance from local fire departments in an effort to test all staff and
residents in Texas licensed nursing facilities.
Fire Department personnel will provide test kits, collect and transport kits to the lab and
manage all testing logistics to ensure that every resident and staff are tested.
Funding for the testing will be provided through monies designated for the COVID-19
situation. Testing results will be sent to the Health Department and the nursing facility.
“Licensed nursing facilities are one of the most at-risk populations for COVID-19,” says
Mayor Wendell Dunlap. “We appreciate our Fire and Health Department stepping up to
ensure that all staff and employees at our local nursing facilities will be tested.”
