This “go live” date will allow job candidates the opportunity to submit applications online. “Accepting online applications has been a goal of the City for a while,” says Rachael Foster, Human Resources Director. “With the launch of the redesigned website, we are now able to make it a reality.” The online job application will create an easier method for candidates to apply for positions within the City, thus saving time for the candidate and the City’s Human Resources team. It also allows the City to broaden their reach of potential candidates for positions and facilitates better communication between the applicant and the City. “One of the best features of the online applications is the improved communication between the applicant and the City,” says Foster. “We will be able to notify candidates the application was received, schedule an interview and send notifications when the job is filled. While we have communicated well with candidates, this ensures that we don’t miss any candidate and provide a clearer expectation of the job process.” Access to the application is available at www.plainviewtx.org. Candidates interested in a particular job will click on the Jobs tab located on the front of the website. After clicking on the particular job, click on Apply now and then it will lead the applicant to create a free account. The account will then allow the user to fill out the online application and submit the job. Once an account has been created, the information will not only be submitted for that particular position but will also be saved if the candidate would like to apply for another job within the City. Administered on the backend by CivicHR, the cloud based software integrates and organizes data as well as storing applicant information that allows them the ability to apply for other positions in other cities using the same software. For candidates that do not have access to a computer, applicants are welcome to access the computers at Unger Memorial Library. A designated computer near the Human Resources Department is also planned for the renovated City Hall making applying easy and accessible. “Employee engagement is one of the top goals for the City,” says Foster. “Online applications allowing us to effectively communicate with potential employees is the first step of effective engagement with future team members.” ###
