35 Annual ‘Hanging of the Quilts’ at Unger
Memorial Library, Public Invited to learn more
about Quilting

The 35 Annual “Hanging of the Quilts”, colorful quilts adorning
the mezzanine railings and display cases, has begun at Unger
Memorial Library (825 N. Austin).

The public is invited to a demonstration on Monday, May 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. During this
time, the Creative Quilter Group will be piecing and quilting and visiting with the public about the quilts
and their organization. The group meets every Monday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and will be
displaying their handwork, both group and individual.
“We do one class project a year - the rest of the time we work on our own projects,” said Nancy
Richburg. “We love to quilt, we love to teach, and beginners are welcome no matter their age or
ability.”
Quilters with items on display – either piecing, quilting, embroidery, applique, or a combination –
include Bertha Longoria, Shirley Mobley, Marsha Allen, Trish Gabbard, Joann Gary, Ethelyn Vernon,
Sally Bird, Linda Tiffin, Annette Saucedo, Sandy Bloom, Shelda Rogers, Phil Burns, Nancy Richburg,
Emma Rigsby, Betty Wells, Steven Bird and Nancy Leyendecker.
The quilting display will be showcased at Unger Memorial Library through the month of May. Library
hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday
from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (with the exception of
