3 Annual Go Skateboarding Day Contest
Slated for Thursday, June 21st
Lubbock Skateboarding, along with the City of Plainview, will be hosting a
Go Skateboarding Day Contest in honor of National Skate Board Day on
stth
Thursday, June 21 at the Skate Park (7 and Joliet).
Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and the contest will begin at noon (12:00
p.m.). Entry fee for skaters is $10 and all levels and ages are welcome to
participate. The event is free to the public and are encouraged to attend
and cheer on the participants. Food and drink will be available at the park.
New to the contest this year will be a cash prize of $300 for intermediate
and advance levels of competition.
“The cash prize will be a great new feature added to our contest this year,” said Tony Maples,
event coordinator. “Plainview has a great skate park and this will generate even more
excitement for the contest.”
For those not able to attend, volunteers will be live streaming various parts of the event on
their Facebook page - www.facebook.com/lubbockskateboarding.
“We appreciate Tony’s efforts to coordinate this event,” said Melinda Brown, CVB Coordinator.
“It will be a great opportunity to watch some amazing skateboarders and even if you don’t
skateboard, we encourage you to join us.”
The event is sponsored by Lubbock Skateboarding, Tony Maples Photography, City of Plainview,
Zumiez, Troy’s Ski Lubbock, Broadway Company, Willy, Covenant Hospital, United Sticker Co.
and Proletariat Skateboards.
