Plainview Police Sergeant Jeff Stalcup and
Officer Al Longoria attend Bomb-Making
Materials Awareness Program
Plainview Police Sergeant Jeff Stalcup and Officer Al Longoria
recently completed BMAP – Bomb-making Material
Awareness Program training in Anniston, Alabama through
the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP). The program is operated by the United
States Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The week long training provided information on how to find precursor products for bombs,
where they are purchased and how to be aware of potential buyers. The training will not
only benefit the police department, but they will be sharing their knowledge with the
community as well.
“We are very excited to bring this training to our community,” says Sergeant Stalcup. “The
training will assist businesses with awareness of the products and actions of those who
may be looking to make a bomb or other explosive devices.”
Training will begin with Plainview Police Officers and Dispatch Staff and then it will be
offered to the public. The training will last approximately an hour and is for all employees.
“Teaching those on the front lines what to look for is very important,” says Officer
Longoria. “We can’t have eyes and ears everywhere so help from the community to head
off potential explosives is crucial.”
