The Celebration with consist of a variety of activities and events happening downtown throughout the month of December and will conclude with the Fair Movie nd Day on Friday, December 22. “Our goal last year was to bring a classic holiday season atmosphere to downtown Plainview that everyone could enjoy,” said Melinda Brown, Main Street Manager. “We will continue that this year by giving families an opportunity to celebrate the holidays through several different events including a concert, parade, movies, musicals as well as enjoying everything our downtown has to offer – including shopping!” The 12 Days of Christmas Celebration will be: st  December 1 o 5:30 p.m. – Wine Walk & Tree Lighting Kickoff @ Millennium Park rd  December 3 o 3:00 p.m. – Plainview Civic Music Association Christmas Collage @ Fair Theater (tickets are $10/adults, $5/students) th  December 6 o 10:00 a.m. – Christmas Story Hour @ Unger Memorial Library th  December 7 o 5:00 p.m. – Literacy Council Pre-Parade Celebration @ Fair Theater o 6:30 p.m. – Chamber Christmas Parade th  December 8 o 7:00 p.m. PCA’s “Spam-A-Lot” @ Fair Theatre (tickets available at the door) th  December 9 o 7:00 p.m. PCA’s “Spam-A-Lot” @ Fair Theatre (tickets available at the door) th  December 12 o All Day – Wells Fargo Open House th  December 13 o All Day – Centennial Bank Open House th  December 14 o 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. – Downtown Shopping Night th  December 15 o 5:00 p.m. – Gingerbread Competition Reception @ Fair Theater th  December 19 o 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. – Soup, Santa & Sopapillas @ Millennium Park  December 21st o 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Gift Wrapping @ Fair Theater o All Day – Downtown Shopping Day nd  December 22 o Christmas Movies/Fair Theatre ($2/Adults, $1/Kids per movie) o 2:00 p.m. A Christmas Story (PG) o 4:00 p.m. The Grinch (PG) o 5:15 p.m. Elf (PG) A new addition to downtown will be the Gingerbread House Contest. The Plainview Downtown th Association is partnering with the PISD 4 grade classes for this competition. Each class will make a gingerbread house to be displayed in different businesses downtown. Voters will then visit the 14 different stores with the houses and vote for first, second and third prize. First place winner will receive $500, second will receive $300 and third place will receive $100. Participating businesses include The Rusty Rose, Accolade Home Care, Turpin Insurance, Masso’s, Plainview Antiques, Broadway Gifts & Antiques, Salvation Army, It’s A Girl Thing, It’s A Girl Thing Too, Hello Baby Apparel, CC’s Junque to Antiques, Cindy’s Country Quilt Shoppe, The Radiant Lily and Dodson Agency. stth The gingerbread houses will be displayed November 21 through December 14 and ballots are available at every location. “This is a great way to showcase downtown businesses, involve the community and have some fun,” says Phyllis Wall, Plainview Downtown Association President. “We invite everyone to come see the gingerbread houses and vote for your favorite.” “We are excited about the addition of the gingerbread house competition to the events downtown and are looking forward to all the events,” says Brown. “We really want to help Plainview celebrate the holidays – so come join us downtown!” For more information about the various events, contact Tori Huddleston at 293.4000 or check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mainstreetplainviewtexas for event details and reminders. ###
