R24-641 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: ADOPTING DESIGNATING ONE MAILING ADDRESS AND ONE ELECTRONIC MAIL ADDRESS FOR PURPOSES OF RECEIVING PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUESTS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview recognizes the need to effectively receive and legally disseminate information about the affairs of government and the official acts of public officials and employees; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 944 of the 2019 Texas Legislative Session amended Texas Government Code Chapter 552, the Texas Public Information Act, to add Section 552.234, which authorizes a governmental body to designate one mailing address and one electronic mail address for receiving public information requests; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the new Government Code Section 552.234, a governmental body that posts the designated mailing address and electronic mail address on its internet website is not required to respond to a written request for public information unless the request is received at one of those addresses, by hand delivery, or by an approved alternate delivery method; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 944 also authorizes a governmental body to create other methods to submit request for public information. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, hereby designates orr(aD_plainviewtx.orq as the electronic mail address for the purpose of receiving requests for public information subject to Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code. In addition, the City hereby designates the following address as the mailing address for purposes of receiving requests for public information subject to Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code: Plainview City Hall Attn: City Secretary 202 W. 5th Street Plainview, TX 79072 Section 2. The City Council hereby creates a form on the City's website as an additional method for receiving requests for public information subject to Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code. As of the date of this Resolution, the form is located at: Resolution R24-641 Page 1 of 2 491 1 https://www.plainviewtx.org/ol)en,ecords but the exact location is subject to change. Section 3. The City Manager or his designee shall immediately post the above - designated mailing address and electronic mail address on the City's internet website and required signage and shall provide the designated mailing address and electronic mail address to any person upon request. The City Manager or his designee shall also immediately post on the City's internet website and the required signage a statement that a request for public information may be made by submitting the form on the City's website.
