also to compete for a qualifying spot at the American Royal in Kansas City.”

“We are so excited to have regulation pits in Plainview,” said Melissa Slack, horseshoe tournament
chair. “As the first tournament, we are excited to see how we can do more of them in Plainview.”

Saturday night will feature a concert by Bart Crow beginning at 9:30 p.m. Dubbed as
one of Texas’s premier Honky-Tonkers and named one of Rolling Stones top new
country acts to follow, Crow has positioned himself for the breakthrough his fans
have long known was coming. His songwriting skill, vocal prowess and blue-collar
believability have made him a mainstay in one of the country’s most demanding and
respected proving grounds. Bart began taking songwriting seriously while at Tarleton
State University in Stephenville, Texas, as he took his first real steps as a performer.
Since that time, he has played in Stephenville, Austin and now tours all around the
country singing his music. Some tops songs include “Life Comes at You Fast,” “If I
Go, I’m Goin,” “Loving You’s a Crime” and “Dandelion.”
“Plainview is looking to organize events that not only are fun for our citizens but also for those from
surrounding areas,” said Melinda Brown, CVB Coordinator. “Bart Crow is a great musician and along
with all the other things happening that day, we expect many people to come enjoy this great event.”
Friday night headliner band is Corey Mangum and the Damn Outlaws. Saturday’s lineup will also
include opening entertainer Cody Jasper and other local artists.
The Plainview Elks Club 1175 will be cooking barbeque for participants to purchase as well as many
vendors will be offering food and other items. Budweiser products will also be available for those with
the appropriate wristband.
Gates open at Friday night (5/6) at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are $10.00. On Saturday (5/7), gates will
open at 8:30 a.m. and tickets are $20.00 for age 21 and over and $10 for those under 21. Tickets
include access to the venders, cookers, horseshoe tournament, concerts and beer.
Sponsors for the event include Mark Marley Family, Chromatin, Bud Light, Vista Bank, Tye Roofing,
Higher Power Electrical, Hatch Farms and County Services.
All money raised goes to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mark Marley.
