The May 2 Friday will host a Family Ag Day on
Friday, May 13,2016 in Downtown Plainview. Events
are scheduled from 5:00 p.m. - sunset. This event is to
celebrate and showcase the Ag community in our area.
Events on the agenda for the night include a documentary film, “The Great
American Wheat Harvest” at 6:00 p.m. at the Fair Theatre, sponsored by Boedeker
Harvesting.
The film tells the story of hard-working custom harvesters who travel from the
heart of Texas to the Canadian border harvesting the wheat that feeds our Great
Country and the World.
“Even though we live in an agricultural community, many people today are
unaware of everything that goes into producing the food we eat and clothes we use
every day,” said Stephanie Boedeker. “This film is a great picture into the lives of those
producers.”
Americans takes for granted the way our food supply
comes to us daily. How many folks truly understand how,
where and what it takes to get that loaf of bread into the market
shelves and on to the table? With rising industry costs,
technological advances and production methods, new threats
face our nation’s agricultural producers everyday directly
impacting our nation’s supply. The Great American Wheat
Harvest Movie is the behind-the-scenes look and tribute to
those working daily to produce our food and those gathering
the harvest.
The film is produced by award-winning director and
producer, Conrad Weaver, President of Conjostudios, LLC
based out of Frederick, Maryland.
Also, Plainview favorites Steve Buress and his friend and guitar
player, Ray Espinosa, will be performing a free concert at Millennium
Park beginning at 7:30 p.m. Playing classic country hits and some of
his own, Burress and Espinosa will be entertaining for the whole
family.
“We are excited to honor the hard-working agriculture families in our
community as well as have Steve and Ray back downtown playing
music,” said Melinda Brown. “Downtown began as the center of town
with cattle sales, land development companies, banks and the railroad
and we are honored support the industry that has supported
downtown for more than 100 years.”
Other events on tap for the night include the debut of Oh Hell Honey Cornbread at The
Radiant Lily, Tulia Creek Nubian Dairy showcasing their goat cheese at It’s a Girl Thing
and Quarter Circle K Chuck Wagon will be on the corner by The Radiant Lily.
