HomeMy WebLinkAbout10.03.15 Plainview Fall Festival City of Plainview NEWS 901 Broadway St. Plainview, TX 79072 September 23, 2015 Plainview Fall Festival to be held on rd Saturday, October 3 The Plainview Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, rd October 3 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Courthouse Square in Downtown Plainview. The festival will feature clothing, vintage items, rustic items, handmade and one of a kind boutiques. “We wanted to bring vendors with unique items for Plainview residents and out-of-town guests to enjoy,” said Andrea Glenn, festival organizer. Current vendors include Custom Creations, Ranada & Co. Designs, The Haute Gypsy, The Cottage Boutique, Ohh LaLa, The Rusty Rose, Lucy Gucy and Sew Perfect by Mackenzie with clothing, accessories and home décor as well as the Dirty Dog Pet Spa with dog costumes. Besides vendors, there will be food served all day, including breakfast burritos from Grumpy’s Grill and Shady’s BBQ and The Broadway Brew for lunch items as well as other booths with snacks. Live music will include the Corey Killough Band from Lubbock and the Shandy Bandits from Amarillo. Other activities include a dunk tank, bouncy houses, face painting and hair accessories, a car show and other events throughout the day such as a cake walk, football toss with high school football players and a pumpkin race for the younger children. “This is going to be a great event,” said Melinda Brown, Main Street Manager. “I am most excited about the collaborative effort – Andrea, owner of The Rusty Rose, along with RUDC Studios, Seductive Trends, Grumpy’s Grill, The Broadway Brew, Plainview Downtown Association and others have each taken a part to make this event happen. It is a great example of how downtown businesses can work together to create great things for the community.” Along with the vendors Rocking G Pumpkin Trailer will be on hand for those who wish to purchase pumpkins. Lorrie Burnette, fitness instructor, will be coordinating a work-out routine using the pumpkins as weights and obstacles. “I thought this was a great way to incorporate the things of fall with a workout,” said Burnette, fitness instructor. “It just shows that you can work out anywhere, anytime and we are excited to showcase this workout.” The streets north and west of the Courthouse will be blocked off and parking will be available th along Ash, Broadway and 6 Street.
