2 Friday to bring the annual Turkey Trot to Downtown

Plainview on Friday, November 13.
The Turkey Trot Broadway Mile and Downtown Tour (3 Mile) will begin at the north side of the
courthouse and families are welcome and encouraged to run/walk together.
“We are excited to be downtown for this year’s Turkey Trot,” said Ashley Mayberry, YMCA
Health and Wellness Director. “This is a great family event and we encourage everyone to join
us for a race through the downtown area.”
Early bird registration (thru 11/03/15) for the Downtown Tour (3 Mile) is $20 and $25 through
race day. The Broadway Mile Walk/Run is $10 early bird registration (thru 11/3/15) and $15
through race day. If signing up three or more members of the same family, a $5 discount per
person will be given. Participants will need to sign up early to receive a t-shirt for the event.
Race day registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. and both events will begin at 5:30 p.m.
A variety of awards will be given for both events and water and snacks will be available
following the race. The weather is unpredictable, so be prepared for cold and or wet weather.
There will be no make-up date or refund of race fees.

“This is the vision of the 2 Friday committee – organizations throughout Plainview partnering
with downtown to have great events,” said Melinda Brown, Main Street Manager. “This is a
perfect collaboration – a big thanks to Ashley for spearheading this and we look forward to
everyone coming out to enjoy the races.”
Race sponsors include City of Plainview, Webb & Webb Optometrist, Edward Jones
Investments, LKRSG & Co., Fitness Specialist, Atmos Energy and West Texas Clinic of
Chiropractic.
Registration forms are available at the YMCA (313 Ennis) or the Main Street Office (717
Broadway) and forms and check can be sent to: Plainview YMCA, 313 Ennis St., P.O. Box
1286, Plainview, TX 79072 Attn: Ashley Mayberry. Checks should be made payable to

Besides the Turkey Trot, the 2 Friday committee will be having a food truck selling turkey legs
around the courthouse and a drawing for a free turkey. Entries will only be accepted at the
Courthouse from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., a winner will be drawn later that night and the turkey

will be available to pick up on Monday, November 23.
Following the race, several businesses will be participating in a Downtown Craft Brew Festival
from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Similar to the Wine Walk, various businesses downtown will offer
different beers, mostly specialty beers, to try while you shop. Businesses participating include
The Rusty Rose, Turquoise Alley, The Radiant Lily, Masso’s, Furniture Expressions, King
Carpet?, Horton Antiques, Furniture Décor & More, Plainview Antiques and Cindy’s Country
Quilt Shoppe.
