HomeMy WebLinkAbout11.13.2024 Johnson Finance Director (2) City Manager appoints Jason Johnson as New Director of Finance for the City of Plainview Plainview City Council confirmed the City Manager’s appointment of Jason Johnson as the City of Plainview Director of Finance at their regularly scheduled Council th meeting on Tuesday, November 12. Johnson will begin his tenure with the City of Plainview on Monday, November 18th. The position was vacated with the retirement of Sarianne Beversdorf. As the new Director of Finance, Johnson will serve as the chief finance advisor to the City Manager and the organization’s treasurer and investment o?icer. He will also oversee financial and audit operations to ensure they comply with state and federal regulations and City policies as well as internal control policies and procedures. Most recently, Johson served as the Associate CEO for Central Plains Center, overseeing day-to-day operations including accounting, billing, payroll and information technology. In his role, he also supervised Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Services and Substance Use Services Departments. Previously, he spent several years as the Sales Director for nQativ, an accounting and payroll software company based in Lubbock. Johnson’s career also includes 15 years with the Plainview Herald, where he concluded his tenure as the Manager of the Plainview Herald, Muleshoe Journal, and Canyon News. A graduate of Wayland Baptist University, Johnson earned a degree in Psychology and a Masters in Business Administration from Western Governors University. He currently is a member of the Plainview Lion’s Club. His wife, Laurie, is a Counselor at North Elementary, and they have one son, Blake, a senior at West Texas A&M University. ###
