Downtown Plainview Main Street Program & Tourism Coordina?ng Board
Date: Monday, June 5, 2023 – 11:30 a.m.
Board Members Present: Macrina Greve, Phyllis Wall, Sheila McKay, Terra James, Emily Parker and
Cynthia Gregory
Board Members Absent: Hari Kotaiya, Jay Givens

1. Call to Order: 11:40 a.m.
2. May Board Minutes – Review and Approve

Phyllis Wall mo?oned to approve the April Board minutes. Terra James voiced the 2. The mo?on to
approve the May 2023 minutes passed with a 6-0 vote.
3. Consider and take necessary ac?on on the Friends of Downtown April Financial Report
Melinda Brown presented the April financial report and itemized budget. Cynthia Gregory mo?oned to

approve the Friends of Downtown April Financial Report. Sheila McKay voiced the 2. The mo?on to
approve the Friends of Downtown April Financial Report passed with a 6-0 vote.
4. Consider and take necessary ac?on on the 2023 Fundraising Goals and Plan
Phyllis Wall presented the fundraising goals and plan. The commi?ee decided to table the fundraising
plan for next year to allow ?me to brainstorm ideas to improve the plan.
5. Review and Update 2020 Strategic Plan
The Board discussed the possibility of sending out a survey via Survey Monkey to see why people do/do

not a?end 2 Saturday events as well as a survey to business owners for their input. Kris? will get
ques?ons from other downtown surveys.
6. Commi?ee Reports
Friends of Downtown – Discussed during item #4

Promo?ons – Holiday Event Saturday, November 11 from 2:00-7:00 pm; shopping will be 11:00
a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

3 party vendors - $35; Theme – Christmas Around the World
Entertainment – rent reindeer; Santa; Workshop will help build backdrop; event permit already
submi?ed.
Veterans day – Photo signs will be sold and placed on Courthouse lawn and Millennium Park
“Bring our troops home for the holidays”. Goal is 150 yard signs @ $100/sign.
Tony will be in charge of musical entertainments; choirs will be invited; inflatable snow globe; 1
cra?; possibly add smores sta?on and a passport to be stamped while visi?ng sta?ons.
Food trucks located near businesses.
Roberts treehouse to give light bids. Next mee?ng is June 28 @ 4:30 p.m.
They will hire a graphic designer that will provide posters and social media squares for $500.
Main Street (City funds) will pay this expense.
Different categories on the window display contest so all businesses can par?cipate.
Organiza?on – working on a complete map of all downtown businesses with a QR to access
map; make counter cards/s?ckers with QR code.
New business packets with FAQ.
Quarterly coffees – professional presenta?ons.
Design – possibly do murals or trash cans in the alleyway behind Masso’s to bring more art to
downtown.
CVB – has not met yet
