DISTRICT NO. 3, TO ELECT A PERSON TO FILL THE VACANCY ANS'
UNEXPIRED TERM CREATED BY THE DEATH OF THE
COUNCILMEMBER FOR THAT DISTRICT; TO OCCUR ON MAY 31, 2025

WHEREAS, there exists a need for a special election for voters in District No. 3, to
fill a vacancy in the seat for District No. 3, as required by the Charter of the City of
Plainview; and

WHEREAS, all persons qualified to vote in said election under the Election Laws
of the State of Texas shall be allowed to vote therein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
*F PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, THAT:
A special election shall be held in the City of Plainview, Texas on the 31st day of May,
2025. Said election is to elect a Councilmember for District 3 to complete the unexpired
term of Council Member Mike McDonough. The Mayor is authorized to execute, and the
City Secretary is authorized to attest to, Secretary of State Form 1-8, "ORDER OF
SPECIAL ELECTION FOR MUNICIPALITIES" or other required filings, on behalf of the
City Council. The Mayor is further authorized to do all other things legal and necessary
in connection with the holding and consummation of the Special Election, which includes
the giving and publication of the Notice of Special Election.

The election shall be held in the designated district within the City, at the
.Vesignated polling place within the district as designated below:

Voting Place: Plainview Collegiate High School
1707 W. 11 th Street
Plainview, Texas
SECTION 5
Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at 202 W.
51h Street, Plainview, Texas between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning on
May 14, 2025 and ending on May 27, 2025.
SECTION 6
Said election shall have as its Early Voting Ballot Board presiding election judge,
Jackie Lopez. On May 31, 2025, the polling place judges will be as follows:
District 3 Polling Place Judge — Alecia Johnson
SECTION 7
It is further provided that the hourly rate for presiding election judges shall not
exceed $10.00 per hour, and the hourly rate for clerks shall not exceed $10.00 per hour.
SECTION 8
A copy of this resolution shall also be served upon the election officials designated
to hold the election.

The City Secretary shall provide the written return of the Special Election results
to the City Council in accordance with the Election Code. The City Council shall canvass
the returns on a date and time authorized and set by State law.
Notice of this election shall be given in accordance with the provisions of the Texas
Election Code and returns of such notice shall be made as provided for in said Code.
