HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-19-1990 Board of Health MinutesBOARD OF HEALTH MEETING CALLED MEETING WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 1990 In a "called" meeting of the Board of Directors of the Plainview - Hale County Health District, at the Golden Corral Steakhouse, Cha- irman Lanny Voss presided. Those present were: Lanny Voss, C.L. Busby, M.D., Kit Linton, M.D., Dorothy Tilson, Dr. Gary Abercrombie, Donna Womble,R.N., Earl Brown, Nina Morris, James Belk and Mayor Gene Ridlehuber. ( An excused absence was allowed for Lewellen Hooper.) Chairman Voss called the meeting to order at approximately 12:00 noon. ( The order of business being the consideration of the app- ointment of a Medical Director for the Health Department.) He explained the meeting had been originally considered an "Execu- tive" session; but after explaining the legal ramifications of an "Executive" meeting, stated an "open" meeting would be a better choice. The Board was in agreement. Chairman Voss asked the Board to review printed information that explained the choices of either a: (1) Medical Director or a (2) Lay Director He shared that Mary D. Bublis, M.D., had agreed to fill the app- ointment as Medical Director at the same terms of compensation that had been agreed to by former Medical Director Anthony A. Lyons, M.D. (The amount - $ 928.00) The Chairman asked for a motion concerning the consideration of Dr. Mary Bublis as Medical Director. There was a motion by Dr. Gary Abercrombie to accept her offer to serve and a second to this motion by Dr. C.L. Busby. In a discussion that followed, Dr. Linton stated she had talked with Dr. Mary Bublis and had determined that she would be able to be at the Heatlh Department in the morning hours. Dr. Lin- ton stated she felt strongly Dr. Mary, Bublis was well qualified for the job. The Board Voted unanimously to accept Dr. Mary Bublis as Depart- ment Director. At this time, Mrs. Truesdale and Dr. Bublis joined the Board Meet- ing. Chairman Voss explained to Dr. Mary Bublis that the Board had voted her as their choice for Medical Director of the Department, stating that the City Council and the Commissioner's Court would consider this recommendation as soon as possible. He said the Board could not express its gratitude for her willingness to acc- ept the Director's position. t, Dr. Bublis made a statement of appreciation for the Board's decision and said she would do her best in serving as Director. It was established that Dr. Mary Bublis' duties as Director would begin October 1, 1990.
