A RESOLUTION • THE CITY • PLAINVIEW, TEXAS
REQUESTING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE TEXAS
WATER DEVELOPMENT :•'-i •- THE FILING •
AN APPLICATION FOR ASSISTANCE; AND MAKING CERTAIN
FINDINGS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH
WHEREAS, the Texas Water Development Board's mission includes
providing leadership, technical services, and financial assistance to support
planning, conservation, and responsible development of water for Texas; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Water Development Board administers the
Emerging Contaminants for Small or Disadvantaged Communities, a grant
program for addressing PFAS and other emerging contaminants in drinking water
across small or disadvantaged communities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plainview, Texas deems it necessary to apply to the
Texas Water Development Board for financial assistance through the Emerging
Contaminants for Small or Disadvantaged Communities grant program in an
amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00 to provide for the costs of studying treatment
options and pilot testing for the removal of lithium; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the rules and regulations for making such
application to the Texas Water Development Board, the City Council of the City of
Plainview, Texas is required to adopt a resolution to accompany such application.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS THAT:
Section 1
That an application is hereby approved and authorized to be filed with the
Texas Water Development Board seeking financial assistance in an amount not to
exceed $1,000,000 to provide for the costs of studying treatment options and pilot
testing for the removal of lithium, an emerging contaminant.
Section 2
That Ted Chancellor, City Manager, and Neil Weems, Director of Public
Works, be and is hereby designated the authorized representative of the City of
Plainview, Texas for the purposes of furnishing such information and executing
such documents as may be required in connection with the preparation and filing
of such application for financial assistance and the rules of the Texas Water
Development Board.

Section 3
That the following firms and individuals are hereby authorized and directed
to aid and assist in the preparation and submission of such application and appear
on behalf of and represent the City of Plainview, Texas before any hearing held by
the Texas Water Development Board on such application, to wit:
