WHEREAS, in accordance with law, a general election has been ordered
for May 2, 2026 for the purpose of electing Council Members for District 2 and 3 to
serve on the City Council in the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, filing deadlines for placementballot and declaration
of write-in candidacy havepassed; and

election, are hereby declared elected to the specified offices and shall be issued a
certificate of election:

polling place on May 2, 2026.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN ORDER TO CANCEL THE MAY
2, 2026 GENERAL ELECTION FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR
DISTRICT 2 AND DISTRICT 3 AND DECLARING EACH
UNOPPOSED CANDIDATE ELECTED TO OFFICE
WHEREAS, in accordance with law, a general election has been ordered
for May 2, 2026 for the purpose of electing Council Members for District 2 and 3 to
serve on the City Council in the City of Plainview; and
WHEREAS, no proposition is to appear on the ballot in that election; and
WHEREAS, the filing deadlines for placement on the ballot and declaration
of write-in candidacy have passed; and
WHEREAS, the City Secretary has certified in writing that each candidate
on the ballot for District 2 and District 3 is unopposed for election to office; and
WHEREAS, in these circumstances, Section 2.053(a) of the Election Code
requires a governing body to, by order or ordinance, declare each unopposed
candidate elected to office and to cancel the election for those districts.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS THAT:
Section 1
The following candidates, who are unopposed in the May 2, 2026 general
election, are hereby declared elected to the specified offices and shall be issued a
certificate of election:
Larry Williams, City Council Member District 2
Gilbert Garcia, City Council Member District 3
Section 2
The cancellation of the May 2, 2026 general election for Council Members
for District 2 and District 3 is hereby authorized and the Order of Cancellation (the
"Order"), attached hereto as Exhibit A, is hereby approved.
Section 3
The City Secretary is directed to post a copy of the Order at each designated
polling place on May 2, 2026.

The City of Plainview hereby cancels the election scheduled to be held on May 2, 2026
in accordance with Section 2.053(a) of the Texas Election Code. The following candidates
have been certified as unopposed and are hereby elected as follows:

hubiera celebrado e/ 2 de mayo, 2026 de conformidad, con la Secci6n 2.053(a) del
C6digo de Elecciones de Texas. Los siguientes candidatos han sido certificados como

A copy of this order will be posted on Election Day at each polling place that would have
