HomeMy WebLinkAbout26-3786 Ordinance472 ORDINANCE NO. 26-3786 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE AMENDMENT OF THE CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW; PROVIDING A REPEALER; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, HUB International performed a Classification and Compensation Study ("Study") for the City of Plainview (the "City") for the purpose of updating the City's classification and compensation plan; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the City to offer competitive salaries and benefits to retain and attract the most highly qualified employees; and WHEREAS, the Study recommends adjustments to the City's current classification and compensation plan to better align actual salaries with the prevailing rates paid for similar occupations in the public sector; and WHEREAS, on March 24, 2026, the City Council of the City of Plainview approved Ordinance No. 26-3784, authorizing the adoption of a classification and compensation plan for all employees of the City in accordance with the Study and the City's Personnel Policy; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview now desires to amend the classification and compensation plan for Fire Department employees. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. The findings and recitals outlined above are found to be true and correct and are hereby adopted and approved. SECTION 2. The classification and compensation plan for City employees is hereby amended to include Exhibit 'A" which is incorporated herein for all purposes and which shall supersede and replace the existing Fire/EMS Pay Plan. SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. All other terms and provisions of the Code of Ordinances, City of Plainview, not in conflict herewith and not hereby amended shall remain in full force and effect. Should any paragraph, section, sentence, phrase, clause or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for any reason, the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby. SECTION 6. After its adoption and publication as provided by law, this Ordinance shall take effect on April 20th, 2026 and thereafter shall be in full force and effect.
