HomeMy WebLinkAbout11.26.07 BA MinutesBOARD OF ADJUS'T'MENT MINUTES 11/26/07 BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: James Crossland, Max Browning, Mark Hardin, Fred Willis, Larry Gould, STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: John Castro -Director of Community Services, Katy Seals - Community Services Secretary OTHER GUESTS PRESENT: Jesus Guen and Connie Espinoza Mazk Hazdin called the meeting to order at 7:02 P. M. FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA : SWEAR IN MEMBERS: None SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of October 2007 minutes. Lazry Gould made motion to approve minutes with correction. Fred Willis ;seconded. Motion carried unanimously. THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA: BA Case # 1542 The request of Connie Espinoza for a variance of sixteen (16) feet of the required thirty (30) foot front setback and three (3) feet of the required eight (8) foot setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance to construct a 24'X22' carport in a Single Family (R-2) Zoning District, and being Block 1, Lot 6, Country Club Addition, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the same being 2210 Norma Street. Jesus Guen is present to answer questions from the 13oazd. John Castro showed the Boazd pictures of the property and a site plan of where the carport would be constructed. There were two (2) responses received from the neighborhood; both were in favor of the variance request. Lazry Gould asked what materials would be used in the construction of the carport. Jesus Guen said it would be metal. Max Browning asked which direction would the carport drain. Jesus Guen said it would drain towazd the street. Larry Gould asked would there be a problem with placing an impermeable surface under the carport within sixty (60) days if issuance of the permit and Jesus Guen said the weather not cooperating would be the only thing he foresees delaying him. Fred Willis made a motion to approve the variance based on this being the only logical place for a carport and the positive response from the neighborhood. Larry Gould seconded and added that concrete must be underneath the entire carport within sixty (60) days of issuance of the building permit. Motion carried unanimously.
