Mazk Hazdin called the meeting to order at 7:00 P. M.
FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA : SWEAR IN MEMBERS: None
SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of September 2007 minutes. Fred Willis
made motion to approve minutes as presented. Larry Gould seconded. Motion carried
unanimously.
THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA: BA Case # 1541 The request of Gilbert Godino for a
variance of twenty-three (23) feet of the required twenty-five (25) foot front setback and two (2)
feet of the required five (5) foot side setback as stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview
Zoning Ordinance to construct a 21'X18' carport in a Single Family (R-2) Zoning District, and
being Block 8, Lots 9, Thunderbird Addition, Unit #1, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the same
being 1116 W. 28a' Street. Gilbert Godino is present to answer questions from the Board. John
Castro showed the Boazd pictures of the property and a site plan of where the carport would be
constructed. There was a total of one (1) response received from the neighborhood and it was in
favor of the variance request. James Crossland asked which direction would the carport slope
for drainage. Gilbert Godino said it would drain toward the sides. James Crossland asked if the
drainage would affect the neighboring property and John Castro said the carport would drain
onto Mr. Godino's property and shouldn't be a problem. John Castro said staff has no problem
with the request. Max Browning asked if the carport would be behind the sidewalk. John Castro
said it would be two (2) feet from the property line in the front. James Crossland asked what
materials would be used in the construction of the carport. Gilbert Godino said it would be a
pre-fabricated one. Larry Gould made a motion to approve the variance based on this being the
only logical place for a carport and the positive response from the neighborhood and added that
concrete must be underneath the entire carport within sixty (60) days of issuance of the building
permit. Fred Willis seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
