Fred Willis called the meeting to order at 7:00 P. M.
FIRST ITEM ON THE AGENDA : SWEAR IN MEMBERS: None
SECOND ITEM ON THE AGENDA: Approval of April 2007 minutes. James Crossland
made motion to approve minutes as presented. Mark Hardin seconded. Motion carried
unanimously.
THIRD ITEM ON THE AGENDA: BA Case # 153:5 The request 30Bfoot front setback as
variance of twenty-seven (27) feet two (2) inches of the required thirty ( )
stated in Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance to construct a 25'X34' carport in
a Single Family (R-1) Zoning District, and being Block 3, South 50' of Lot 2 and the South 50'
of Lot 3, Boss Smelser Subdivision, Plainview, Hale County, Texas the same being 1207 Utica
Street. There is no one present representing this case. John Castro said Billy Ray Clary came to
the office sometime last week and said he hthaathe fee:ncollect d would nottbe refundable~s nce
request. John Castro said he told Mr. Clary
paperwork and public posting had already taken place and suggested the request be heard by the
Board in case he decided to build a carport at a later date. John Castro showed the Board
pictures of the property and a site plan of where the proposed carport would be. He said the
requested carport is larger than what the ordinance defines as a carport. Based on that, he said
staff recommends the variance be approved for seventeen (17) feet of the required thirty (30)
foot front setback to construct a 24' X 24' carport. There were no responses received from the
neighborhood. Larry Gould made a motion to approve the variance for seventeen (17) feet of the
required thirty (30) foot front setback to construct a 24' X 24' carport based on staff
recommendations and an impermeable surface be placed under the carport within six months of
construction of the carport and this being the only logical place for a carport. Mark Hardin
seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
FOURTH ITEM ON THE AGENDA: BA Case # 1536 The request of Lucio Lopez for a.
variance of eighteen (18) feet of the required twenty-five (25) foot front setback as stated in
Section 34 of the City of Plainview Zoning Ordinance to construct a 16'X22' carport in a Single
Family (R-2) Zoning District, and being Block 3, Lot 10 and East 2.5' of Lot 11, Titus
