Mr. Belk mention to the board that he attended a meeting that state
officials had presented on Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Pays, this includes
all counties in the State of Texas. Mr. Belk is working with Region 2.
The assistance they are aiming for will involve all types of health related
agencies and organizations. The services will be involving every one from
premature children to the elderly. The statewide committee will meet
again in 18 months to make recommendation to the next regular session of the
State Legislature. Local committee will meet in the interim.
Mr. Hooper asked what could be done about livestock being left out
on the side of the roads to deteriorate. Mr. Belk stated that he had
looked into that matter in 1980. There was nothing the county could
do to enforce any type of action. Mrs. Truesdale mention that Ms. McNally
had done some research and there was nothing the health department could
do. Mr. Belk mention that maybe a public annoucement in the media re-
minding the ranchers and farmers of the rendering plant and phone number
to call to pick up the animals might be helpful. No further action was
taken.
Mr. McClure moved to adjourn. Mrs. Tilson seconded. Motion carried.
Respectfully,
