DECEMBER 4, 1986
Those attending the Board of Health Meeting on December 4, 1986, at
the Plainview Country Club were: Dr. Gary Abercrombie, Dr. Anthony A. Lyons,
Dr. Kit Kveton, Lewellen Hooper, Dorothy Tilson, Nina Morris, Lanny Voss,
Mary Lou Truesdale, and Secretary Elvia Montez.
Dr. Abercrombie, Chairman, called the meeting to order.
The minutes were approved as presented.
Mr. Hooper moved that the bills be paid. Mrs. Tilson seconded.
Motion carried.
Dr. Lyons reported an increase of strep throat, sore throat, many
cases of gastro enteritis, two cases of hepatitis which were not connected
and two cases of Lyme disease. No other major problems. Staff is in
good condition.
Mrs. Truesdale had met with the Plainview City Council in a work
session on adopting an ordinance for the City of Plainview concerning
Health Cards, Food Sellers Permits, Fees for Food Establishments, and
the Adoption of Regulations of Retail FoodSTores This ordinance was
to be presented for approval by the Plainview City Council on Tuesday
night of December 9, 1986. The new policy on health cards and food
establishments fees were discussed by Mrs. Truesdale.
Mr. Voss moved to adopt a policy for reviewing environmental health
matters and fee schedules in October of each year. Mrs. Tilson seconded.
Motion carried.
Mrs. Truesdale mentioned that the health department has been short
one physician in conducting Family Planning services. A new physician
to fill this need has been recruited. She is Dr. Leann Deal, from South
Plains Health Provider. Her first clinic is to be January 9, 1987. South
Plains Health Provider has agreed to staff one clinic. Dr. Deal will be the
physician most often_ attending. Another physician may fill in for Dr. Deal.
Excused absences were asked for Dr. Busby, and Dr. Mary Bublis. Mrs.
Tilson moved approval. Mr. Voss seconded. Motion carried.
Mrs. Tilson moved to adjourn. Mr. Voss seconded. Motion carried.
