February 28, 1985
Those attending the Board of Health meeting on February 28, 1985, at the
Plainview Country Club were: De. Gary Abercrombie, Dr. Anthony Lyons, James
Belk, Dorothy Tilson, Donna Womble, Dr. Mary Bublis, Weaver McClure, Mayor G.
Ridlehuber, Dr. C.L. Busby, Lanny Voss, Mary Lou Truesdale, and secretary Jo
Ann Baker.
Dr. Abercrombie, Chairman called the meeting to order. He requested ex-
cused absences for Dr. Wilson, due to a prior commitment with Texas Tech Medi-
cal Shool.
The minutes were corrected and approved.
Mrs. Tilson moved that the bills for February be approved and paid. Mr.
McClure seconded. Motion carried.
Dr. Lyons reported the influenza or flu-like illness had declined from
last month, strep throat was still highly evident as was the usual, chicken
pox, gastroenteritis and common diarrhea. A new Sanitarian was hired, Mrs.
Nona McNally. She will start March 1, 1985. She will probably spend most of
the first two weeks in training and orientation with Region II staff. Less
than ten establishments have been licensed. With the new Sanitarian on staff,
we should be able to get the inspections and licenses back on track, though
it may take a year to bring the majority of establishments up to an acceptable
level of operation.
Mrs. Truesdale reported on the activities of the Health Department. All
the Clinics have remained consistently busy. Family Planning Clinics held
this month have had fewer broken appointments. The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority
has volunteered to donate supplies for unanticipated babies, which is a great
help to the Department. The Sorority has also agreed to help as far as un-
anticipated expense, such as a child needing Colostomy supplies, etcetera.
They will use some of their Community Services monies to help in the event
that the Department encounters children with medical needs that are not avail-
able through other resources.
Diagnostic Clinic has been busier: than:. in:.the _past. Attendance at Well
Child Clinic have remained about the same.
DTP booster immunizations are still delayed. Water samples at Plains
Mobile Homes have continued on a twice a month basis. Mayor Ridlehuber re-
ported the work on the water and sewer system to that area was approximately
two third's complete.
Dr. Abercrombie welcomed Dr. Bublis to the Board of Health.
Donna Womble moved to adjourn. Mrs. Tilson second the motion. Motion
carried.
spectively submitted,
