A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PLAINVIEW, TEXAS IDENTIFYING AND DECLARING A
CERTAIN AREA AROUND HOUSTON STREET SCHOOL TO
BE A DRUG FREE ZONE.
WHEREAS, Houston Street School is a public school for the education of the children; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Plainview desires to develop and foster a safe
atmosphere for school children; and
WHEREAS, a map representing a specific area around Houston Street School has been
prepared under the supervision of the City Engineer; and
WHEREAS, the area in, on, or within 1,000 feet of the property lwown as Houston Street
School as identified by the attached map, is eligible for designation as a Drug Free Zone.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Plainview,
Texas, the area inside the Drug Free Zone boundary line, as identified by the attached map,
is hereby declared to be a Drug Free Zone, as defined in section 481.134 of the Texas
Health and Safety Code, and as may be amended.
PASSED AND APPROVED on September 9, 1997.
