A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW,
TEXAS ~N]DORSING THE CASIADIAN RIVER MUNICIPAL WATER AUTHORITY
SALINITY CONTROL P~.
WHEREAS, the City of Plainview, Texas is a member of the Canadian
River Municipal Water Authority; and
WHEREAS, concern has been expressed about the increasing salinity
of Lake M~redith; and
WHEREAS, the CR~NA in conjunction with the Bureau of Reclamation
and other consultants have identified the area of highest infiltration
of chloride to Lake Meredith; and
WHEREAS, the CR~% has proposed a method for reducing the generally
increasing trend of chloride content in Lake Meredith; and
WHEREAS, the City of Plainview has solicited public cc~nent frcm
the citizens of Plainview on participating in a plan to reduce the
salinity of Lake Meredith:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVID by the City Council of the City of
Plainview, Texas that the City hereby endorses the need for the
development and implementation of a plan to reduce the salinity in Teke
Meredith and the current proposal of the Canadian River Municipal Water
Authority to investigate the possibility of securing Federal funds as
well as the possibility of securing local funds is alsoendorsed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Plainview reserves final
CfaL"L~//t on the proposed plan dependent upon the financing method
recoranended by the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority.
