R79-185 O0 077 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW TEXAS SUPPORTING THE FORMATION OF A STEERING COMMITTEE TO REVIEW THE FORTHCOMING RATE INCREASE REQUEST FROM SOUTHWESTERN PUBLIC SERVICE AND AGREEING TO PAY THE PRO RATA SHE.RE OF COST. WHEREAS, Southwestern Public Service intends to request a rate increase in the near future; and WHEREAS, the Mayor ~nd City Council believe it would be in the best interest of the Citizens of Plainview to participate in the formation of the committee (Steering Committee) appointed to work with Southwestern Public Service Officials prior to formed request being submitted; and WHEREAS, Southwestern Public Service Officials have agreed to cooperate closely with the Steering Committee and to provide full disclosure of all facts supporting their request; and WHEREAS, if the Steering Committee determines a need exist to hire a consultant, then the resulting cost Will b~ paid on a per'meter baSis: SECTION l: Support the formation of a Steering Committee appointed to represent the interest of the Cities in the forth coming South- western Public Service Rate Incresae; and SECTION 2: If necessary, to hire a consultant and pay its pro rata share of the cost on per meter basis. DODSON,'CYt~ Clerk MEMORANDUM DATE: TO: FROM: November 9,. 1979 Panhandle Cities SPS Steering Committee Representatives of area cities met. in Canyon on November 8th to discuss the possibility of forming a steering committee to review the forthcoming rate increase request from Southwestern Public Service. Those cities present did recommend the committee be appointed to work with SPS officials prior to any formal request being submitted. In order to proceed, we are asking your governing body to ratify this approach and agree to support the hiring of a consultant if and when it is deemed by the committee advisable to do so. SPS officials have indicated their desire to cooperate closely with the Steering Committee in order to provide full disclosure of the facts supporting their request. Please indicate your preference below and return to the SPS Steering Committee, c/o PRPC, P.O. Box 9257, Amarillo, Texas 79105 at an early date so a determination can be made.
