HomeMy WebLinkAboutR80-231O0 136 RESOLUTIQN~NO.-R80-231- ORDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY OFFICERS' ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF HALE CITY OF PLAINVIEW On this the 8th day of.A pti_ 1, 1980, the City Council of the City of Plainview, Texas, convened in Special session at the regular meeting place thereof with the following members present, to-wit: Jeane Browning-Alderman Place One Lloyd Woods - Alderman Place Three Tom Almon - Alderman Place Four Bill SoRelle - Alderman Place Five and the following absent: None a quorum, and amoung other proceedings had, were the following: Alderman SoRelle moved its adoption. Tillerson, Jr. Jimmy Bublis Antonio (Tony} Luna FOR ALDERMAN Place 1 00 TOTAL NUMBER OF VOTES RECEIVED 1,961 624 773 137- FOR ALDERMAN Place 2 Onofre Hinojosa Paul-Butler ~ndy Taylor, Sr. 382 1,470 1,528 FOR ALDER~N Place 3 2,462 Lloyd Woods 904 Reynaldo Fennell FOR ALDERMAN Place S Tom Aday Irene Salas Bocanegra 2,951 393 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED.BY THE CITY OCUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLAINVIEW, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, 'and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that: - SECTION ~: J.Robert (Bob) Wayland was duly elected Mayor for the City of Plainview, and that said J.Robert (BOb) Wayland is hereby declared elected to said office of.Mayor of the City of Plainview, subject to the taking of his Oath of office and filing bond as provided (if such be required) by the laws of the State of Texas; and SECTION 2: Carl L. Tillerson, Jr. was duly elected Alderman for Place One (1) on the City Council of the City of Plainview, and that said Carl L. Tillerson, Jr. is hereby declared elected to said office of Alderman for Place One (1) on the City Council of the City of Plainview, subject to the taking of his Oath of office and filing bond as prov,iRed (if such be required) by the laws of the State of Texas; and O0 i38 SECTION.S: Lloyd C. Woods was duly elected Alderman for Place Three (3) on the City Council of the City of Plainview, and that said Lloyd C. Woods is hereby declared elected to said office of Alderman for Place Three (3) on the City Council of the City of Plainview, subject to the taking of his Oath of office and filing bond as provided (if such be required) by the laws of the State~of Texas; and SECTION 4: Tom Ada)' was duly elected Alderman for Place Five (5) on the City Council of the City of Plainview, and that said Tom Aday is hereby declared elected to said office of Alderman for Place Five (S) on the City Council of the City of Plainview~ subject to the taking of his Oath of office and filing bond as'provided (if such be required) by the laws of the State of Texas; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That at said election there were 3,380 votes cast for the office of Alderman, Place Two (2) on the City Council of the City of Plainview, and that for said Alderman, Place Two (2) votes were cast as above shown and the Council finds that no.~candidate received a majority of all of the votes cast for such office at said election; That Andy Taylor, Sr. and Paul Butler were the two candidates receiving the most number of r'votes at said election, and that therefore no one was elected for Alderman for Place Two (2) on the City Council, and that it is therefore necessary for the City Council to call a Run-off election between Andy Taylor, Sr. and Paul Butler to determine which of said two candidates shall be elected to the office of Alderman Place Two (2) on the City Council of the City of Plaiview; and in accordance therewith, said election is hereby called and shall be conducted and had in accordance with the Charter of the City of Plainview and the Statutes of the State of Texas, on_theii3thfday?of May, 1980, in accordance with an appropriate Ordinance to be passed calling said election in compliance with the Statutes~of the State of Texas and the Charter of the City of Plainview.
